  4. Sailogy Reviews: Beneteau Oceanis 37.1, A Masterpiece Afloat

Beneteau, a renowned name in the sailing world, has once again dazzled enthusiasts at the 2023 boat shows in Cannes and Genoa with its latest creation—the Oceanis 37.1. Marc Lombard handled the water lines, boasting a harmonious fusion of expertise, while Nauta Design took charge of the interior deck. This collaboration showcased the brand's commitment to excellence and maintained the aesthetic continuity seen in the recent Oceanis range.

As the eighth model launched since 2017, the Oceanis 37.1 is a testament to the evolution of the seventh generation of Oceanis cruisers. This 37-footer not only embodies the line's distinctive characteristics but also introduces eco-friendly solutions, including an optional electric motor and an exquisite iroko slatted cockpit floor. Let's delve into the nuanced details that render this yacht an unequivocally excellent option for your next sailing vacation!

1. Enhanced Sailing Performance

Naval architect Marc Lombard's touch is evident in the open outdoor space, characterized by the absence of back stays—a layout previously successful in the Oceanis 30.1 and Oceanis 34.1. The generous double spreaders on the Oceanis 37.1 promise exceptional performance, ensuring a thrilling sailing experience.

To facilitate easy handling, especially when sailing short-handed, all rigging is cleverly directed to the two aft winches, with halyards neatly grouped around the coachroof. The starboard helm console accommodates all instruments, featuring a 7-inch plotter for navigation convenience.

Beneath the waterline, the hull exhibits a flare with a rib, contributing to fluid lines and enhancing power and stability. This design not only improves hull rigidity but also optimizes weight distribution, offering a more voluminous interior within the bow.

2. Marvellous Interior Spaces

The Oceanis 37.1's interior is a marvel of space utilization, with the saloon almost rivaling that of a 40-footer. Offset to port, the saloon features a relaxing sofa and a spacious table for six, complementing the lengthwise galley.

The fore cabin, with two large portholes integrated into the hull side, offers a breathtaking view of the horizon. In the two-bathroom version, the bed is thoughtfully positioned against the starboard hull, providing generous proportions and a sense of luxury.

Optimal comfort reigns at the stern, where the standard version offers a king-size double bed, accompanied by a vast sail locker accessible inside and out.

3. Sail Plan

The Oceanis 37.1 presents multiple sail plan options, from a standard configuration with a classic mainsail or furling, to a performance-oriented "First" model featuring a square top mainsail and low-overlapping jib. The boat also caters to the environmentally conscious sailor, offering an electric motor version with a 12-kilowatt-hour pod and 10-kilowatt-hour batteries—perfect for short cruises or day trips.

4. Comfortable External Space

The interior layouts cater to diverse preferences, ranging from 3 staterooms and 2 bathrooms ideal for chartering to more intimate configurations like 2 staterooms and 1 bathroom or 3 staterooms and 1 bathroom for a personalized owner's touch.

With an overall length of 11.93 meters and a width of 3.92 meters, the Oceanis 37.1 impresses not just with its dimensions but with a slew of accolades, including the prestigious European Yacht Of The Year (2024) and nominations for Voilier De L'Année (2024) and The British Yachting Awards (2023).
