From Castellammare di Stabia you can explore the Gulf of Naples (Naples, Capri, Ischia, Ponza),
Castellammare di Stabia is a town located on the southern end of the Gulf of Naples, with the harbor situated right in front of it. It’s a very safe marina, with a long breakwater on the northwest side that shelters it from winds. This is an ideal departing spot to rent a sailboat and cruise towards legendary Italian spots like Sorrento, Capri, the Amalfi Coast, and – further south – the spectacular Natural Park of Cilento. The town of Castellammare di Stabia is easily reached from nearby Naples (35 km), with trains that leave every 20 minutes.
The harbor of Casellammare used to be purely industrial, and was the location of a large shipyard. Now these shipyards have been closed and the marina has been refurbished for recreational purposes. That said, it’s not the most picturesque of spots. But many of the docks are well organized for chartering a boat, and our partners here even have a live webcam so you can check conditions from afar.
All in all, this is the closest mainland marina to Sorrento and Capri, and if your sailing itinerary include these destinations, you’ll want to consider Castellammare as your starting off point when booking a boat for your sailing holiday in the Gulf of Naples.
